The Director General of Police Shri Dilbag Singh today visited Katra, Poonch and Mandi, where he took stock of the security scenario. He addressed a public meeting at Kulali and held a joint darbar of Police and CAPFs officers and personnel at Mandi.
The DGP first visited Katra in Reasi district, where he was received by IGP Jammu Shri Mukesh Singh, SSP Reasi Ms Rashmi Wazir, CO CRPF 6th Bn., Shri Jitender Kumar Gupta, Adl. SP Katra Shri Naresh Singh and other offiers of Police and CRPF.
The DGP visited Bhawan and took stock of the security measures which are put in place during the festivals and day to day basis.
The DGP was briefed by the jurisdictional officers and GOs of CRPF 6th Bn. on the security scenario and measures taken en-route to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. He was briefed about the functioning of CCTV cameras, nakas and frisking points en-route Bhawan. He was also briefed about the joint deployment of Police and CRPF personnel in the Katra town and its vicinity.
While interacting with the jurisdictional Police officers and CRPF officers the DGP stressed upon coordination and synergy among security forces. The DGP directed officials for plugging gaps if any by static as well as dynamic deployment. He stressed for the strengthening of QRTs so that they are readily available on real time basis to check and chase. He impressed for use of drones and effective coverage of shadow areas along the route and the Bhawan. He also emphasized that optimum use of bullet proof bunkers and shields and hassle free communication.
The DGP also interacted with the joint QRTs of JK Police & CRPF on ground and lauded their role in performing day night duties to ensure peaceful pilgrimage throughout the year especially during the Navratra festivals and also elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir.
Later on the DGP visited Kulali, Poonch, where he was received by SSP Poonch Shri Ramesh Angral and CO 16 RR Shri Kashish Wadhwa. He was accompanied by IGP Jammu, Shri Mukesh Singh. This area of Marah and Hill Kaka was once militant strong hold and operation Sarp Vinash in 2003 cleared it of the militancy wherein local VDC played a major role and gave a huge number of sacrifices.
The DGP was briefed by the CO 16 RR about the security scenario and counter infiltration and counter terrorism measures being taken by the forces.
While interacting with the officers of Police and Army the DGP complimented and lauded measures taken to ensure counter infiltration grid. He exhorted all ranks to remain vigilant to emerging security challenges.
The DGP stressed upon the jurisdictional officers to remain in close contact with the people to redress their grievances.
The DGP addressed a public meeting at Kulali which was also attended by Panchs and Surpanches of the area including Marah, Dophale and villages adjoining hill Kaka.
Welcoming the DGP Shri Dilbag Singh, Shri Fazal Hussain Tahir thanked the DGP for visiting the border villages of hill Kaka. He briefly highlighted the fight of the people of the area against terrorists in 2003. Shri Tahir said that people of area will continue their help for the nation.
Speaking on the occasion the DGP said that the contribution of the people of the area for sovereignty of the country cannot be forgotten and has been written in golden letters.
At Mandi the DGP was received by DIG Rajouri Poonch range Shri Vivek Gupta. A joint darbar of Police, Army, BSF, CISF, RAF & SSB officers and personnel was held at Mandi. CO 4 Grenadiers of 93 Brigade Shri K Dhagat briefed the DGP about the security scenario of the area.
Speaking to the joint darbar the DGP complimented the Army, CAPFs for maintenance of law and order in the Poonch, Mandi as also in the other parts of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the Pakistan wants to keep pot boiling by cross border infiltration and provocations through cross border firing and ceasefire violations. He said we have strengthened anti infiltration grid to foil the nefarious activities of Pakistan.
The darbar was attended by CO BSF Shri Masood, CO SSB Shri C S Tanwar, CO ITBP Shri Lakshman and I/C CO CISF Shri V P Singh.
